The Pangarchulla Peak Trek is a well-rounded trail that offers trekkers with a lot of adventure and breath-taking landscape. Location of Pangarchulla Peak

Pangarchulla Peak is located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India. It is known to be the perfect place for trekkers that also offers a lot of thrill. Its altitude is about 4,593m and offers a magnificent view of the region. The nearest railway station is Haridwar and the nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun.

Best Time to Visit

You can experience the best of Pangarchulla Peak in summer (May-June) and Post Monsoon (September-November). During summer, it has a pleasant weather that will give you a clear view of the region. The absence of snow will make it easy to reach the pinnacle and capture the beauty of several peaks. On the other hand, post-monsoon still offers a great view of the region where some parts are covered by white snow and other parts are still covered by lush green grasses.

Pangarchulla Peak Trek Itinerary :


Day 01 - Drive from Haridwar to Joshimath (245 km/8-9 hrs.)

Be at the Haridwar Railway Station at 6:50 am. You’ll have a long journey to reach Haridwar that will take several hours. By early morning, you’ll be driven from Rishikesh to Joshimath. That will be a long ride, but there will be a lot of views you can enjoy the holy townships of Rudraprayag and Devprayag. You will also pass the Ganga and Alaknanda Rivers.

Day 02 - Drive from Joshimath to Auli, Trek from Auli to Gorson Meadow (3200 m)

You will have a 45-min drive to Auli, which is 14 km. away from Joshimath. Trekking will start in Auli to reach the Gorson Top. Auli offers a good place for skiing that you can try. You will pass the magnificent views of Nanda Devi Peak, chestnuts, Maple trees, and rhododendron. A dense Oak forest will welcome you with carpet-like leaves on the ground. As you walk ahead, you will hear a musical symphony caused by different jungle birds. This is the forest that is well-known for incredible bird life.

After passing through the forest, you will reach a meadow surrounded by mountains. This is the Gorson Meadow, which will be our base camp. Tents will be placed here so we can have our dinner and overnight stay. This will offer you the best place to watch the sunset. You can also roam around to see some extraordinary views.


Day 03 - Trek Gorson Meadow to Tali (3310 m)

Witness the wonderful sunrise on Mt. Nanda Devi. After having breakfast, the group will hike towards Tali. As you walk ahead, you will see a valley that leads to Nanda Devi Sanctuary and Tapovan. After reaching Tali, we will set our camp near a small pond and have dinner, and stay for the night.

Day 04 - Trek from Tali to Khulara (3395 m) / 5-6 hours

We will trek to Khulara via Kuari Pass. That will take 5 to 6 hours of trekking, but you’ll definitely enjoy the magnificent views of Himalayan peaks such as Chaukhamba, Neelkanth, Narayan Parbat, Mana, Kamet, Abi Gamin, and Dunagiri. We will then set our camp in Khulara to have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 05 - Trek from Khulara Base Camp to Advanced Base Camp (4000 m / 4 hours.)

On our sixth day, we will be trekking towards the Advanced Base Camp of Pangarchulla Peak. We will trek on the snow-covered mountain. It is best to follow every instruction of your guide even if you don’t find the trek difficult. After reaching the Advanced Base Camp, we will then set camp and rest for a while before we take our dinner.

Day 06 - Trekking from Advanced Base Camp to Summit and back to Base Camp in Khulara (4-5 hours.)

Witness the spectacular sunrise at the Advanced Base Camp. After this, we will also attempt to reach the summit. If the timing is perfect and we can achieve summit climb, you will have the most gratifying experience of this journey. After the summit, we will go back to Khulara Base Camp.

Day 07 - Trek from Khulara to Tapovan (1905 m / 4-5 hrs.) then drive towards Joshimath (120 km/4 hours.)

We will be trekking towards Tapovan. After reaching Tapovan, we will drive to Joshimath. You’ll have your dinner and stay overnight at a hotel in Joshimath.

Day 08 - Drive from Joshimath to Haridwar

We will drive towards Haridwar Railway Station via Devprayag and Rishikesh. Make sure you have all the captured moments of your 9 days trip here that you can show to your loved ones when you get home.
